Identification of partial differential equation models for a class of multiscale spatio-temporal dynamical systems

چکیده
In this paper, the identification of a class of multiscale spatio-temporal dynamical systems, which incorporate multiple spatial scales, from observations is studied. The proposed approach is a combination of Adams integration and an orthogonal least squares algorithm, in which the multiscale operators are expanded, using polynomials as basis functions, and the spatial derivatives are estimated by finite difference methods. The coefficients of the polynomials can vary with respect to the space domain to represent the feature of multiple scales involved in the system dynamics and are approximated using a B-spline wavelet multiresolution analysis (MRA). The resulting identified models of the spatio-temporal evolution form a system of partial differential equations with different spatial scales. Examples are provided to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Invariant Manifold Reduction and Bifurcation for Stochastic Partial Differential Equations
Stochastic partial differential equations arise as mathematical models of complex multiscale systems under random influences. Invariant manifolds often provide geometric structure for understanding stochastic dynamics. In this paper, a random invariant manifold reduction principle is proved for a class of stochastic partial differential equations. The dynamical behavior is shown to be described...

In this paper, a new algorithm for the multiscale identification of spatio-temporal dynamical systems is derived. It is shown that the input and output observations can be represented in a multiscale manner based on a wavelet multiresolution analysis. The system dynamics at some specific scale of interest can then be identified using an orthogonal forward leastsquares algorithm. This model can ...

Friction is a nonlinear phenomenon which has destructive effects on performance of control systems. To obviate these effects, friction compensation is an effectual solution. In this paper, an adaptive technique is proposed in order to eliminate limit cycles as one of the undesired behaviors due to presence of friction in control systems which happen frequently. The proposed approach works for n...

Finding a suitable estimation of stability domain around stable equilibrium points is an important issue in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems. This paper intends to apply a set of analytical-numerical methods to estimate the region of attraction for autonomous nonlinear systems. In mechanical and structural engineering, autonomous systems could be found in large deformation problems or c...
